Training for teachers

Purpose

The quality of the teachers is inextricably linked to the quality of education and to the improvement of pupils' school results.
The teaching body must be able to guarantee a teaching of quality to allow the European Union citizens to gain the knowledge and the competences that they will need in their personal and professional life.
Working on knowledge, technology and information: they should be able to work on a wide range of typologies of knowledge about the European institutions, the funding programmes for schools, the development of key competences about active citizenship.
Their pedagogical competences should allow to build and manage learning frameworks and to have the intellectual liberty to make choices about the teaching methods. These skills have to take into account also innovation and creativity.


Methodology


The methodology used will be that of Peer Learning, which endorses the centrality of the learner, identifying the didactic strategies within which teachers and learners determine together the educational goals and the learning strategies to be implemented.
At the core of it, there is the exchange and the debate and a strong will for methodology innovation.
The training of the teachers is for sure a training "for the innovation", its ultimate goal is to give the trainee the same chances of those of who make researches.
Teacher is the one who in his/her professional actions, fits into the attitude of the researcher, and who is able to improve knowledge and competences reflecting on his/her own actions within the professional context while the same actions are ongoing. Training, in this view, is a process which brings the person to modify his/her own professional behaviours in an innovative way within a cyclic process through experience, reflection and knowledge, in a circular relationship between theory and practice.
